Cazenovia College hosted the 1999 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships at their new 160 acre equine facility. A strong program at Cazenovia College, the Equine Studies Department used the weekend to recruit students for the equine studies program. This program is unique for a variety of reasons. Aside from being one of the best programs in the nation, equine programs attract students who come from wealthy backgrounds. These students may not have their name on the equine center 20 years down the road, but they may have their name on the library or another academic building. The College Street Group's job was to handle public relations throughout the weekend and ensure the College was noticed nationally during the event. The College Street Group created a media kit for national media in attendance that served as a guide to the event and an introduction to the College. The events of the weekend were geared toward institutional advancement and recruitment. The Equine Studies Program at Cazenovia College reaches their maximum capacity each year and this year experienced a 60% increase in the number of applications to the Equine Studies Program alone.
