Massachusetts Maritime Academy
is a great survival story that The College Street is proud to have been
a part of. The Governor of Massachusetts slated the Massachusetts Maritime
Academy to close
after admission to the Academy dropped dramatically for several consecutive
years. After conducting intensive research at the Academy, we found that
graduates' starting salaries were incredibly impressive. Knowing this
would grab the attention of students, we tailored a poster and a direct
mail campaign around these statistics. Additionally, the Academy boasted
a 99% placement rate within 60 days of graduation. Surprisingly, the Academy
had difficulty marketing themselves to college-bound students. Our posters
and direct mail pieces crated such
a stir that once college-bound students saw the actual numbers, interest
in the Academy rose significantly and so did admission. In response to
the overwhelming number of applicants, the Governor rescinded his decision
to close the academy.
